Our specialized group classes are designed to give students more opportunities to learn and participate in other aspects of music outside of their private lessons. They are meant to give students a head start in their music education, while having fun in a relaxed environment.

Group Guitar Classes

Two age groups offered:
· 7-11 year olds
· 12 years and up

 

This class is for beginning guitar students with up to six students, and we focus on learning to tune the guitar, reading music, melody playing, chords and strumming, basic skills and techniques, and ensemble playing.

Students use a songbook plus a music workbook. The teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private lessons at the appropriate time. Students bring their guitar to class (a student size acoustic or electric is fine).

Tuesdays: 7:30-8:30 pm

Group Piano Classes


Two age groups offered:
· Pre-K and Kindergarten
(4's and 5's)
· 1st through 5th grade

 

Introductory piano classes for beginners with up to six students in each class. We teach a notation-based program, focusing on reading music and rhythms, technique, ensembles, and some theory activities. The teacher helps each student individually at their keyboard for a small portion of the class, and we also have a chance to play piano together in ensemble (great for building listening skills and steady rhythm). The teacher will assess the student's progress and recommend private piano lessons at the appropriate time. Students should have a keyboard or piano at home to practice weekly assignments.

Master Piano Classes


Two age groups offered:
· 5-12 years
· 13-adult

Our new Master Piano group classes allow advanced students to enhance their musical knowledge, playing technique and public performance skills in a unique program. These fun group classes are designed to build strong live performance abilities and bring each musician to a higher level.

Students will meet and perform for each other on our new concert grand piano and receive encouraging critiques to better their capabilities. They will have the opportunity to perform solo and with an ensemble.

Our Master class students will also have the opportunity to perform outside the classroom at different venues!


Class size is limited to 8 students per class. Additional classes are added as needed.

Master Vocal Classes


Ages:
· 9 to Adult

This program offers a new approach to vocal training in an acoustic concert setting.

Designed to enhance performance qualities, the master class meets one hour every other week to learn, share and perform vocally. Students will sing solo and with the group.

Students will be featured in high caliber performances and will have professional accompaniment provided for them during master classes and recitals.

Each student will also have an opportunity to perform for competition or recital. These unique opportunities will help increase each student's general music knowledge in all areas and ensure successful performances.

We will discuss on stage posture, sound placement and character developments to create a higher level of performance.

Class size is limited to 8 students per class. Additional classes are added as needed.

Recording
Class


Age Range:
14 yrs old and up

Pre-Requisite:
Students enrolled in this classes MUST have taken the Songwriters class OR have a song that is completed and ready to be recorded.

Age range is 14+

Course Description:
The purpose of this group class is to provide students with the basic knowledge and tools needed in order to record their compositions on their home computer. This class will explore the concepts of how sound is produced, the differences in key microphones, recording setups and a brief tutorial of the popular music editing program Cool Edit Pro.

Sound Reinforcement Workshop

Age Range:
7 yrs old and up

Sound Reinforcement Class
Who should attend: Musicians, DJ's, anyone who runs sound in a church, school, organization or municipality, Take the guess work out of setting up and running your system properly. Become educated with the terminology used by professionals.

Learn the basic concepts of hooking up and running a simple to more complex sound reinforcement system referred to by some as a PA (Public Address System)

Session 1
A typical sound reinforcement system consists of three parts: 1. Input Transducers - Microphones , musical instruments which convert sound energy into an audio signal. You will learn about the different types of microphones and their special uses and placement.
2. Signal Processors ­ such as equalizers, mixers, amplifiers, which alter the audio signal. You will learn about powered, non- powered, DJ mixers and how they are used with different signal processors and amplifiers. Know the in and outs of your mixer to get the best sound.
3. Output Transducers ­ Loudspeakers which convert the audio signal into sound for the audience. You will learn about a single full range cabinet to adding a low frequency bass cabinet configuring the correct ohms to match the amplifier. Setting up a monitor system to the main system.

Session 2
This session will cover more complex systems in professional applications including multiple mixing boards, monitors and a vast selection of effects.
Compressor/Limiters, Noise gate, Reverbs, Delays, main and monitors systems setups up for band applications, low, mid, and hi frequency speaker cabinets & how they are used with crossovers, Advanced mixing techniques.
